I got this guitar in blue for Christmas and its sweet. Real easy to play with low action, no string buzz and comfortable C profile neck. It sounds fabulous. Only let down is the gig bag- the zip failed on me, coming open in the middle, but the bag isnt made by Tanglewood plus I have a better one already. Top instrument!

A real V-52 bomber... Got the guitar today, opened the box at the post office, and started playing it right there at the counter. Then could not stop playing it for several hours and the tone just kept ringing more and more...the wood vibrating in harmony from the the joy of playing music... A real solid piece of quality wood that will sound better and better with time. I plan to upgrade the electronics, put in a Seymour Duncan vintage mini humbucker in the neck position and sand off some of the laquer to let the tone come out even more. Then it will be an instrument comparable to a 2000 dollar guitar for a quarter of the price...

Bought this after a mate recommended the dreadnought version. Firstly quick dispatch and delivery was superb. As for the guitar itself, all the good reviews and awards are well deserved, plays and sounds as good as guitars costing a multiple of the price, only minor gripe is the action is a tiny bit on the high side but I can amend that easily enough myself. The simplicity of this guitar actually is quite appealing when you see it for real, and the satin finish 'feels' great especially on the neck. The built in preamp with EQ also is to be commended, very clear and sweet sounding. This guitar really is a bargain, its recent placing in Guitar & Bass magazines Top 20 pieces of gear is well deserved.

I bought this electro acoustic guitar from Guitarbitz 3 months ago and must say that I am very impressed with the look, feel, and quality of this instrument.The slightly slimmer body is comfortable to hold but does not detract from the depth of tone which, with the supplied strings is fairly mellow when used with a Tortex 1.00 pick (blue)...my personal favourite.When plugged into my VOX VT15 amp I can get a wide variety of tones and effects so this adds to the versatility even more. The action is fine and I love the chunky heel which gives a feeling of strength. Overall, at £149 this is an excellent value instrument which is a delight to play. Well done Ashton and well done Guitarbitz,you can rest assured that I will remain a loyal customer for evermore.

Old Guitar Strings? When to change strings

Did you know that strings wear out? Over time (even without playing), strings start to corrode and rust, making the string vibrate unevenly causing the string to sound dull, flat and dead. Even worse is the oil, dirt, dust, sweat, etc from your fingers, that builds up in the windings of the strings. This makes the strings an uneven thickness and again causes the strings to sound lifeless and dull.

If you want to keep your guitar sounding at its best, then you need to change your strings regularly. Take a look at our guide for when to change guitar strings, but remember, it's only a guide and you may find you need to change them more or less frequently.

So take a look at the guide for when to change your strings, and if you haven't changed your strings in a while, go on and treat yourself to a nice, clean set of shiny strings and give your guitar that bright, clean sound that only new strings can give.

3) Need a Replacement Part?
Just like all things in life, something has to break at some point. Whether it´s a string, a tuning peg, a bridge pin or even a crackly volume knob, most breaks can be mended. Well you might be surprised but there aren’t many things to go wrong on a guitar, and if it does, then most of the time all you need is a screwdriver and a soldering iron - IF any tools at all.
So if you´ve lost your tremolo arm, a volume or tone pot or even that little plate that covers the truss rod on the headstock, then don´t fret, Guitarbitz to the rescue! We have a large stock of spare parts, from spare tremolo arms to replacement bridges, all the parts you can think of to replace any lost or broken bits on nearly every guitar. We also have Genuine Fender and Gibson replacement parts. If you have lost something, or broken a bit off, then have a look at our spare parts and see if we have a replacement. This is a quality tele but not for those who prefer skinny necks.
Top tele tones including a clever push button on the volume controle which alters the pickup phase and nails Peter Green`s tone wonderfully.
It plays superbly and relishes the type of action which allows clean tone played gently and that classic tele rattle when thwacked in anger.
Best purchase ever.

Need New Guitar Strings? Broken String? Strings Rough?

How do you know if you need new guitar strings?
For Acoustic and Electric guitars Here are a couple of questions to answer: 1) Have you had the same strings on for over 2 months? 2) Are your strings rusty? 3) Are your strings rough? 4) Do your strings sound dull? 5) Had a string break recently? If you answered yes to any of the above, its probably time to replace your strings.
Because of moisture on your fingers and in the atmosphere, strings corrode and rust over time and their ability to vibrate diminishes. This not only causes the sound to dull but even worse, the feel of the strings becomes rough and will hurt or even damage your fingers. Strings can also become brittle from too much vibration, just think of how a paper clip snaps if you twist it too much, the same happens to strings. If you play a lot, say for 2 hours a day every day, then you should look at changing your guitar strings every month. If you play less, but still strum most days, the max you should leave them on the guitar would be 2 months. Strings are quite cheap, about £5 for a set of 6. There is an alternative to changing your strings this often. You can buy coated strings. These last longer due to a coating on the strings that prevent dirt build up and corrosion. Coated guitar strings tend to last 3 to 5 times longer than normal strings, so you can leave them on for longer. These still need to be changed though. At least every 6 months these should be changed as they are also prone to breaking because of the vibrations of the string as explained earlier using the paper clip analogy. Coated strings do cost more, about £12 for a set of 6, but last longer, so can work out more cost effective. For Bass Guitars, the strings are much more substantial and tend to last longer and hold their tone. Change bass strings at least once a year. For Classical Guitars with nylon based strings (yes 3 of the strings look like metal, but they are a thin metal wire wound around a nylon core), because of the way they are made, they don't rust, so last longer. They do age though, so do need replacing. When they age they tend to stretch and become hard to keep in tune. If you don't want to wait till this starts happening, you should look at changing them every 3 to 4 months. So to summarise:Change your Electric / Acoustic uncoated strings at least every 2 months. Change your coated Electric / Acoustic strings at least every 6 months. Change your Bass guitar strings at least once a year. Change your Classical guitar strings at least every 4 months. How to Restring an Acoustic Guitar

1) Removing the Old Strings

1) Firstly turn the machine heads clockwise to make the strings slack and then remove the strings from the tuning pegs.	2) At the bridge pin, push the string into the body of the guitar. Do not worry if you can not move the string as sometimes they can be tight. If so go to step 5.	3) You should be able to remove the bridge pins easily. You may need a Bridge Pin Puller to remove the bridge pins if they are tight.	4) Now carfully remove the old strings from the holes. Remember which hole the thickest string was in. Please recycle old guitar strings.	5) Use the bridge Pin puller to lever out the bridge pins if they are very stiff. Place the pins to one side.

2) Give the Guitar a Good Clean

Without the strings is now a great time to get the polish out and give your guitar a thorough clean.

If you have some lemon oil, put this on a cloth and rub into the finger board to nourish the wood.

Make sure you clean both sides of the frets as this is where a lot of dirt builds up.

Now give your guitar a thorough polish.

3) Putting New Strings on an Acoustic Guitar

With all the new strings, at the ball end make a 45° bend. This will help the string stay in place.	Take the thickest string and push the ball through the hole that used to home the old thickest string.	Take one of the bridge pins that you removed earlier. Note it has a slot cut in it, this should house the string and the slot should face toward the neck.	Push the bridge pin firmly into the hole with the thickest string. Only use enough pressure to push it into place. Do not try to jam it in and do not use glue.	Do the same with the remaining strings, gradually going from the thickest string to the thinnest string.


Once all the strings are in place, gently pull on each one to make sure the ball is at the bottom of the bridge pin.	Start with the thickest string. Draw it over the saddle and over the top nut to the machine heads	Pass the string through the tuning peg (from the inside to the outside) and pull it some-what tight.	Pass the string around the back of the tuning peg and under itself.	Now fold the string over top of itself.


Turn the machine head anti clockwise to tighten the string.	Push the remainder of the string down.	Now take a pair of wire cutters. Here we use the Planet Waves Pro Winder, which has a built in string winder, cutter and bridge pin puller.	Snip off the exess string.	Do the same for the remaining 5 strings, gradually working from the thickest to the thinnest.

The Encore Blaster pack is the answer to anyone who wants to get off to a flying start playing a full sized electric guitar. If you want to get started but arent sure what bitz and pieces you need then worry not! The Blaster Kit has got it all boxed up and ready to go!

Most importantly, the electric guitar needs to be plugged into an amplifier to be heard properly and the Blaster Kit comes with a lead and 10Watt BB Blaster practise amp that can be played quietly, or turned up to make a right racket! The kit also includes other less obvious, but equally important items such as a guitar strap, to play standing up, gig bag to carry and protect the guitar and a stand, so it doesnt fall over when you put it down.

A QuickTune digital guitar tuner makes tuning before you play fast and easy and there is even a DVD to help you get everything set-up and ready to go. A spare set of strings is included to keep your guitar sounding good as new.

The 69's body is the lightest in the range and is very comfortable due to its slim body and chamfering. Again with lighter gauge strings and slim neck this is a great beginners guitar. The three way pickup selector can be used to instantly change the guitars sound, great for blues and rock, in combination with the two volumes and two tone controls.

BB Blaster Amp

This 10watt practise amplifier gives you the first taste of the sounds an electric guitar can make! Crank up the volume and hear the notes ring out as you play. Push the 'Drive' button and youre into metal mode for a distorted rock sound! For those times when it gets too much for everyone else there is also a headphone socket, so you can practise without upsetting those around you!

Fender Lone Star Deluxe Stratocaster

The Deluxe Lone Star Stratocaster guitar is a scorchin' reissue of one of Fenders most successful models from a few years ago; a classy humbucking guitar with superb feel, great looks and tone as big as Texas itself.

Features include a premium U.S.-made Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus bridge pickup and two Texas Special single-coil Stratocaster pickups at the neck and middle positions, a brown shell pickguard, tinted C-shaped Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, and a vintage style synchronized tremolo bridge.

The headstock is Fenders small size, a tinted satin Maple finish, the front has a single chrome string tree, the Fender logo and serial number. The open truss rod cavity here has a black plastic protective trim.

The back of the head is plain, with a single row of 6 separate Fender Chrome die cast square machine heads.

The neck is also satin tinted Maple, with the Rosewood 'skunk' stripe starting at between the 1st and 2nd fret. It's a modern C shape, very slim and rounded, a great players neck, lovely for fast runs.

The Lonestar is only available with a Rosewood fingerboard, but it's a great bit of wood, dark, with a very tight grain, well polished up and smooth enough for big bends and fast twiddly playing.

The neck is held on by a 4 screw Chrome neck plate, joining the Alder body at the 17th fret on the treble side, 20th on the bass side, standard Strat stuff of course. The body has an all over piano black gloss finish, the back has a white bridge access back plate and a bit of comfy chamfering to make it sit nicely around your chest.

The front features a 3 ply white and black red tortoiseshell scratchplate that really sets the guitar off. The controls and pickups are contrasted in vintage white.

The quality vintage tremolo bridge has a shiny Chrome finish, with a slim tremolo bar. The 6 saddles are the bent metal style, as opposed to cast, Fender branded.

The Lonestar plays beautifully, a really good value guitar, the 2 Texas Specials at the neck and middle have loads of character, the neck has a nice amount of brightness, but not brittle, lovely for groovy rhythm work. The middle is more mellow, and in combination mode add more depth to the tones.

The bridge pickup is a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates, and this has more power and sharpness, great for lead work, it has buckets of clarity and is great for all styles of music from metal to blues and jazz.

In all, the Deluxe Series Lonestar is a remarkable Stratocaster, great pickups, stunning looks and it plays so well, you'll never want to put it down!
